Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking a Payroll Accountant to manage labor corrections and payroll processing for government contracting programs in Virginia.

The role requires costpoint proficiency, detailed accuracy, and knowledge of payroll systems. The successful candidate will join the Accounting and Finance team, supporting audits of deductions, GL reconciliations, and year-end tasks such as W-2 processing and new hire orientation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years payroll experience in Government contracting environment.
• Detailed oriented with strong organizational, analytical thinking and computer skills (Excel).
• Working knowledge of accounting concepts and ability to create journal entries and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Process labor corrections in Costpoint and reconcile labor each payroll cycle.
• Conduct monthly audits of benefit deductions.
• Process quarterly disability benefits.
• Monitor and maintain timesheet floor checks.
• Prepare affiliated GL account reconciliations.
• Back up semi-monthly labor, leave and payroll processing.
• Assist with W-2 year-end function and new hire employee orientation.

Accounting and Finance manages accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other general accounting for SPA and helps ensure that the business runs effectively with minimal disruption. The team is responsible for ensuring that all financial activities comply with strict federal regulations and provides economic analysis to improve key business strategies.

SPA has an immediate need for a Payroll Accountant .

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will process labor corrections in Costpoint, reconcile labor each payroll cycle, conduct monthly audits of benefit deductions, process quarterly disability benefits, monitor and maintain timesheet floor checks, prepare affiliated GL account reconciliations, back up semi-monthly labor, leave and payroll processing, and assist with W-2 year-end function and new hire employee orientation. This individual will also perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Minimum 2 years payroll experience in Government contracting environment.
• Detailed oriented with strong organizational, analytical thinking and computer skills (Excel).
• Working knowledge of accounting concepts and ability to create journal entries and reconciliations.
• Must work under general supervision and follow standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree (Business or Accounting)
• 2 years of Costpoint experience.
• Experience with Employee Central Payroll desired.
