Job summary

The Contract Manager at MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization oversees the development, implementation, and ongoing management of commercial fee-for-service and value-based payer contracts across MaineHealth and MHACO.

Working with internal stakeholders and external partners, this role supports optimal reimbursement, maintains competitive positioning, and strengthens relationships with payer organizations to advance financial and operational objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher preferred in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in managed care contracting, provider relations, or payer relations within a hospital system, physician organization, or health plan.
• Strong understanding of reimbursement methodologies (e.g., DRG, APC, fee-for-service, value-based care) and ability to interpret complex financial data.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage commercial fee-for-service and value-based payer contracts across MaineHealth and MHACO.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support financial and operational objectives.
• Foster strong relationships with payer organizations and support optimal reimbursement and competitive positioning.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

The Contract Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of commercial fee for service and value-based payer contracts across MaineHealth, and the MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization (MHACO). This role is critical in supporting optimal reimbursement, maintaining the System's competitive position, and fostering strong relationships with payer organizations. The Contract Manager will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the financial and operational objectives of the System and its affiliates as it relates to Payer Relations activities.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• License/Certifications: N/A
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in managed care contracting, provider relations, or payer relations within a hospital system, physician organization, or health plan.
• Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies (e.g., DRG, APC, fee-for-service, value-based care). Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing complex payer contracts. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and present financial and operational data.

The pay range for this position is $83,324.80to $112,736.00per year.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
