Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Director of Software Engineering for the Payment Data Platform Infrastructure in Jersey City. You will own the platform’s infrastructure, reliability, and security posture, guiding a multi-region AWS and on-prem environment with high regulatory requirements.

You will lead engineering managers across SRE and SecOps, drive automation, and shape the roadmap for AI-enabled delivery workflows while ensuring compliance and scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 8+ years applied experience, including leading infrastructure, SRE, or platform orgs.
• Experience managing budgets, resourcing, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
• Hands-on background in large-scale distributed systems and production operations.
• Proven track record in multi-region, active-active resilience and disaster recovery.
• Security posture ownership in regulated environments with SecOps and audit controls.
• Experience with agentic AI-enabled engineering practices and secure data handling.
• Strong grasp of cloud, data platforms, and DevOps tooling.
• Familiarity with data platforms and modern data lakehouse stacks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and coaching for managers and technologists across infrastructure, SRE, and SecOps.
• Own reliability strategy, SLOs, capacity planning, and disaster recovery for multi-region estates.
• Lead security operations agenda including threat detection, patching, secrets management, and audit support.
• Advocate infrastructure-as-code and automated deployments to improve repeatability and governance.
• Set guidance for AI-enabled engineering within SDLC and establish guardrails for security and resiliency.
• Oversee toolchain usage from CI/CD to observability and incident response across teams.
