Job summary

Mercury is hiring a Payment Operations Lead to build and scale the desks that support our payment rails—international wires, domestic wires, RTP, ACH, and checks. You will lead a high-trust team, drive process improvements, and implement tooling and AI to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality.

You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Banking Partnerships to ensure reliable money movement and strong operating rhythms, controls, and performance

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of payments, banking operations, or related operational function.
• Deep knowledge of payment rails (international/domestic wires, RTP, ACH, checks).
• Experience leading an operations team with clear performance expectations.
• Interest in scaling operations through tooling, automation, AI, and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a Payment Operations team with clear priorities and high standards.
• Build and scale desks across payment rails including workflows, controls, and documentation.
• Guide operational decisions on exceptions, investigations, returns, and regulatory tradeoffs.
• Improve efficiency with processes, tooling, automation, and AI-enabled workflows while preserving judgment.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Banking Partnerships to improve workflows and scale operations.
• Define metrics for productivity, quality, SLA adherence, and system health.
