Ignition is seeking a Director of Payments & Fraud Risk to own the risk agenda and the operating system behind it. Reporting to the VP of Payments, you’ll lead the team responsible for day‑to‑day risk execution, set strategy, and ensure balanced risk management while preserving an exceptional customer experience.

You’ll partner with product, engineering, finance, and data to embed risk into the roadmap, monitor losses, build dashboards, and design scalable controls.

Competenze

• 8+ years in payments and/or fintech, including 3+ years leading teams and owning outcomes.
• Deep, hands‑on command of the payments stack — onboarding, underwriting, processing, settlement, reconciliation, and disputes — with strong Stripe fundamentals (or comparable infrastructure).
• A track record in fraud and risk — building or running detection, monitoring, and controls; balancing loss prevention against customer experience and growth.
• Commercially minded — you understand how risk decisions affect growth, and your instinct is to enable it, not stifle it.
• Automation-first — you have stood up new processes or products and treat AI and tooling as genuine force multipliers.
• High autonomy, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
• A clear communicator who translates payments and risk complexity into guidance non‑specialist teams can act on.

• RISK STRATEGY & COVERAGE: Define risk strategy and coverage for new capabilities; shape into roadmap.
• EXECUTION & OPERATIONS: Run day-to-day risk queue and incident readiness for spikes and anomalies.
• CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP: Collaborate with product/engineering, Finance/Data for dashboards and reporting.
• AUTOMATION & TEAM: Design for scale; coach the Risk team and leverage AI tools.
