Job summary

FinWise Bank Corporation is seeking a Payments Strategy Operations Specialist to lead and manage bank launches across BaaS, LaaS, and BIN sponsorship while ensuring compliance and high data quality. The role collaborates with internal teams and fintech partners to deliver reliable rails.

The successful candidate will drive product certifications, testing, and reporting, mentor peers, and contribute to operational improvements within the department.

Qualifications

• Experience with payment rails such as ACH, Wire, FedNow, RTP, Visa Direct, RPPS, Checks, Visa, Mastercard.
• Experience with product launches.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Lead bank launches for BaaS, LaaS, BIN sponsorship, and deposit operations.
• Train and mentor staff on launches and ensure clean products for downstream processors.
• Create and maintain test plans and test cases for bank launches.
• Certify new payment rails as they launch.
• Develop department procedures for launches and process gaps.
• Study, implement, and maintain regulatory compliance procedures.
• Generate reporting and provide insights to management.
• Collaborate with Fintechs, customers, and internal teams to solve issues.

Job description

The Payment Strategy Operations Specialist is charged with building out bank products as they relate to funds movement. In preparation for this role, the PSO Specialist has proven proficiency with a large number of payment rails across lending as a service, BIN sponsorship, and banking as a service. The PSO Specialist will be a SME in crucial areas of the bank and work to build products in that area.

Tasks:

• Responsible party on bank launches for BaaS, LaaS, BIN sponsorship, Deposit Operations projects, automation, and clearing house related projects.
• Works with a contributing party training them on bank launches as well as ensuring clean products for downstream processors.
• Ensures information provided by contributing parties is thorough and accurate.
• Responsible for testing, including creating test plans, creating test cases, and carrying out those tests related to the banks launches.
• Responsible for product certification of new payment rails as they launch.
• Responsible for filling process gaps working with the contributing party and other departments.
• Responsible for creating new department procedures as they relate to launches or filling process gaps.
• Responsible for studying, implementing, and maintaining regulatory compliance procedures.
• Works with management and the training department on continually improving the department.
• Responsible for creating reporting.
• Partners with internal departments, Fintechs, and customers in solving new and preexisting issues.
• Ensures work is accurate and thorough.
• Mentee driven mentorship for personal projects, shadowing, books/study, certs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Extreme ownership of department and “win together lose together” approach.
• Proficient with BaaS, LaaS, BIN sponsorship, and Deposition Operations.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and customer service skills.
• Must have great spreadsheet skills.
• Good data skills for reporting and gleaning department insights.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Double checks work to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

Required Education / Experience / License :

• Proven experience with various payment rails such as ACH, Wire, FedNow, RTP, Visa Direct, RPPS, Checks, Visa, Mastercard, etc.
• Experience with product launches
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Preferred Education /Experience / License:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar
• SQL
• Sit or stand at a computer for long periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
• Work at an assigned FinWise office location.
• Communicate with others in person, on the phone, virtual meetings and email.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Lift 20 lbs.
