Job summary

Column is seeking a Payments Operations lead to scale and automate our payment rails. You’ll own end-to-end processes across ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, and checks, partnering with Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Customer teams to ensure timely, accurate resolution.

Based at our Presidio SF office (3+ days in-person), you’ll design systems with Retool, SQL, Python, and JavaScript to improve efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, and JavaScript; ability to learn new tools and AI.
• Familiarity with NACHA rules, wire transfers, and payment processing concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical teammates.
• Highly organized with ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer empathy and bias for action; comfortable building from scratch with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Design systems to automate and scale payment operations using Retool, SQL, Python, and JavaScript.
• Oversee end-to-end payment operations across ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, and checks.
• Triage and resolve customer and external bank inquiries.
• Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor operational health.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Customer teams to ensure compliant resolutions.
• Document processes, playbooks, and onboarding materials.
• Identify risks and propose tooling improvements.
