Job summary

Varo Bank is seeking a Payment Operations Analyst to manage primary payment channels and develop scalable operational solutions. The role focuses on ACH activity, wires, and reconciliation to ensure accurate posting and customer issue remediation, supporting the Core Banking system updates and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in financial services, strong regulatory knowledge, and a detail-oriented, independent work style.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in financial services, in payment processing (ACH/Wires/Card) and/or treasury management functions.
• Extensive knowledge of bank policy, procedures, products and regulations, including Reg E.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational/implementation skills.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced and rapid changes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a treasury operations environment.
• AAP/CTP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ACH activity: file origination, receiving, processing and reconciling.
• Post to internal accounts accurately and timely.
• Validate and balance ACH posting to the Federal Reserve account.
• Process and reconcile incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
• Reconcile multiple vendor partners and correspondent banks.
• Monitor cash balances and daily cash position.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and monitor ACH risk.
• Notify other financial institutions and internal teams for corrections.
• Establish and maintain files to limit bank liability.
• Collaborate with Core Banking system updates/testing.
• Assist the Manager in onboarding, training and mentoring teammates.
• Review and approve ACH entries and wire transfers.
• Review work by contractors and offshore teams.
• Provide second-level support to teammates and other teams.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the Role

As a Payment Operations Analyst, your task is to manage the primary payment channels for Varo Bank. A successful analyst will be responsible for the developing, implementing and managing scalable operational solutions to put Varo Bank in a position to succeed. Aspects of the payment operations function focusing on the timely and accurate record keeping of Varo Bank accounts through monitoring and reconciliation of monetary transaction activity and the identification and remediation of transaction-driven customer issues.

How you’ll make an impact

• Responsible for monitoring file origination, receiving, processing and reconciling ACH activity

• Ensuring accurate and timely posting to internal accounts.

• Validate and balance ACH posting to the Federal Reserve account.

• Responsible for processing, screening and reconciling incoming and outgoing wire transfers.

• Responsible for processing and reconciling multiple vendor partners and correspondent banks.

• Monitoring cash balances and reconciling each day’s cash position.

• Provides ad hoc reporting and analysis as required and monitor ACH risk

• Provides written/verbal notification to other financial institutions, third party service providers and internal departments for correction and reversal of entries.

• Establishes and maintains files ensuring proper handling in order to limit bank liability.

• Partner with Varo teams ensuring customer accounts and associated processes impacted by system enhancements, upgrades, and/or updates are tested with the Core Banking system.

• Assists the Manager in onboarding, training, and mentoring teammates

• Assists in reviewing and approving ACH entries and Wire transfers

• Review and approve work completed by contractors and offshore teams

• Provides second level support to teammates and and other Varo teams in researching and answering questions

• Other duties as assigned.

The skills and experiences you’ll bring

• Five+ (5) years of experience in the financial services industry either in payment processing (ACH/Wires/Card) and/or treasury management functions.

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of bank policy, procedure, products and regulations, compliance (Reg E), and payment types.

• Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational/implementation skills.

• Ability to adapt to fast-pace and rapid changes.

• Ability to multi-task and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to details.

• Ability to work well independently.

• Must be able to resolve problems and improve processes quickly, effectively and professionally.

• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with information relating to the bank, its customers, and employees

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a treasury operations environment .

• AAP/CTP certification a plus

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all US-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors as well as candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the identified range.
