Job summary

Sallie Mae in Delaware is seeking an Associate, Payment Oversight to support the ongoing execution and monitoring of business controls within the Payment Strategy team. You will partner with stakeholders to address risks and support remediation efforts, while documenting processes and maintaining control evidence.

The role emphasizes analyzing payment activity, supporting audits, and driving process improvements in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and understanding of business processes, risk management, and internal controls.
• Exposure to systems used for process documentation and control management (e.g., Archer, PolicyTech).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and elevate control gaps and support remediation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present findings to peers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution, maintenance, and monitoring of existing business controls to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
• Assist with documenting processes, risks, and controls, and updating policies and procedures.
• Maintain and update issue, control, and remediation documentation in alignment with internal standards (e.g., Archer, PolicyTech).
• Support issue remediation efforts, including documenting issues, tracking progress, and maintaining updates in Archer.
• Execute recurring control checks and validations (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Perform data analysis to identify exceptions or anomalies in payment activity.
• Support audit and Business Controls Office (BCO) requests by gathering documentation and evidence.
• Work with cross-functional partners on process improvements and control enhancements.
