Job summary

Hri,-Inc. is seeking an experienced Paving Roller Operator to safely operate a roller for hot mix asphalt and aggregate bases. You will coordinate with a density technician to choose the correct static or vibratory mode, amplitude, and frequency while maintaining proper pattern and overlap.

This hourly non-exempt role requires working with live traffic and travel to multiple job sites. Responsibilities include daily inspections, reporting deficiencies, communicating density results, performing

Qualifications

• Must have/obtain PennDOT Flagger Training Course.
• Biannual Paving Training.
• Behavior Based Safety - Toolbox Talk

Responsibilities

• Operate the roller in coordination with the density technician, selecting static or vibratory mode with appropriate amplitude and frequency (VPM) for the mix type and depth.
• Perform daily walk-around inspections, check fluid levels, hoses, wear components and report deficiencies to Foreman.
• Compact joints with 6” overlap from cold to hot (or hot to cold if required by traffic).
• Safely operate equipment among live traffic and perform manual compaction where rollers cannot reach.
• Communicate paving speed and density results with paving personnel and adjust as needed throughout shift.
• Perform end-of-day maintenance, cleanup and walk-around to ensure roller meets manufacturer’s requirements.
• Travel to various job sites and work non-traditional hours including nights, Saturdays, sometimes Sundays.
