Job summary

The Kearney Companies is seeking an Asphalt Paving Foreman/Operator to join our Brandon/Riverview area team. You will operate CAT, Volvo and LeeBoy paving machines, maintaining mat quality while coordinating with crews to meet project timelines.

We value dependable, safety‑minded professionals who can train crew members, enforce quality control, and uphold on‑site safety standards across outdoor paving operations. CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating asphalt pavers, especially CAT, Volvo or LeeBoy.
• Ability to maintain grade, slope, depth and mat quality during paving.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced outdoor setting.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt paving machines to place asphalt on roads, parking lots and sites.
• Pre-plan work, supervise crew, train members and ensure safety on site.
• Maintain equipment, perform daily inspections and report issues promptly.
• Coordinate with screed operator, roller crew and foreman for consistent production.
• Complete hazard analyses, safety talks and daily progress reports.

Recent growth has led to opportunities to join our established civil construction company in the Brandon/Riverview area.We are currently seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Foreman/Operator with experience running CAT, Volvo, and LeeBoy paving machines. This position plays a key role in our paving operations by ensuring asphalt is placed smoothly, safely, and according to project specifications. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and works well as part of a crew.The ability to perform all crew member duties and run all crew related equipment, including the paver, is of high importance.Review, monitor, and maintain crew productivity, equipment, and materials to ensure deadlines are met.Maintain company assigned vehicles and equipment according to company and safety standards.Pre-plan work for crew and provide training opportunities.Enforce quality control and safety policies on all aspects of work.Supervise, inspect documents, and maintain awareness of equipment used on site.Train crew on equipment used onsite and ensure equipment is being operated and shut down safely and properly.Oversee safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production, and scheduling. Complete daily hazard analysis forms.Proactively participate and solve problems that could delay construction.Maintain daily timesheets of time and equipment for crew.Teach and practice safety onsite, encourage participation in the Safety Incentive Program.Maintain daily reports including construction & maintenance daily log and pictures of progress on site.Complete necessary forms as needed for tool replacement requests, equipment maintenance requests, jobsite damage reports, and incident reports.Complete accident reporting in line with company policies and procedures and submitting to Human Resources.Lead weekly toolbox talks, safety meetings, and post-incident safety training.Attend training / courses as needed or required for OSHA, safety, etc.Communicate with Superintendent, Project Managers, other Foreman, and crew members.Report and address hazards with crew members.Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent and / or Project ManagerExperience operating, troubleshooting, specialized paving equipment, and maintaining heavy construction equipment are required.Operate asphalt paving machines (CAT, Volvo, LeeBoy) to place asphalt on roads, parking lots, and commercial sitesMaintain proper grade, slope, depth, and mat quality during paving operationsCoordinate with the screed operator, roller crew, and foreman for consistent productionMonitor material flow and adjust controls as needed for smooth placementConduct daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues promptlyPerform basic maintenance and cleaning of paving equipmentFollow all company safety policies and job site requirementsAssist with general paving crew tasks as neededOversee and manage the asphalt crew, including task training, and supervision of crew membersQualificationsProven experience operating asphalt pavers, specifically CAT, Volvo, or LeeBoyUnderstanding of asphalt paving procedures, materials, and job site standardsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced outdoor construction environmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsCommitment to quality workmanship and safetyValid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to work long hours, including overtime and weekends when necessaryAbility to stand and walk on uneven job sites for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Work ScheduleMonday through SaturdayHours may vary based on job site and operational needsBenefits401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insurance
