Job Status: Full Time/Weather Dependent

Grade/Level: $ 26.00-$ 38.00 D OE

Amount of Travel Required: No travel required

Work Schedule

Monday through Saturday 6:30am to 5:00pm, hours & days can vary based upon Owner/GC requirements and work load.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a highly skilled position involving control and operation of the screed on the asphalt paving machine. Must have experience with operation of the screed on asphalt paving machines in all types of asphalt paving (Roadways, Commercial Parking Lots, and Patching). You will be responsible with the daily maintenance and the efficient working condition of the equipment, conversing with asphalt paver operator to ensure we are providing a smooth surface, in addition with performing other various duties on RME construction projects as needed. Said operator must partner with foreman and other crew members to apply asphalt per plan specifications and perform tasks of other positions as instructed by crew foreman to insure daily schedules/estimates are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to efficiently operate and train on the following equipment or equivalent to.
  • Asphalt Laydown Machine – CAT AP1055F or AP655F; Weiler P385B
  • Operator will control material taken into the paver and the depths of material distributed through the machine.
  • Understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction, rolling patterns and other details related to asphalt paving
  • Assists paving crews with various duties such as: Shoveling, raking, safely backing of dump trucks into paver, operating asphalt paving equipment.
  • Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Learn, follow and lead safety regulations.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other works, and vehicle traffic in roadways.
  • Repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.
  • Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers, supervisors and or perform other duties within the company as needed.
  • Ensure we are providing a safe, clean and quality work site.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience
  • Five plus years related experience
  • Demonstrated success in managing employees and/or leading a crew
  • Some experience creating, working within and/or administering an assigned budget, preferred or ability to learn same.
Certificates & Licenses

OSHA 10-hour course or completion of the OSHA 10-hour course prior to the start of employment. Federal OSHA 10-hour Construction course completed within 5 years of the date of hire, or completion of the course before starting employment with RME and CPR/First Aid Safety training, or completion of the certifications prior to employment.

Other Requirements

Clean Driving record and the ability to pass a background investigation, and drug screening.
