Job summary

Sundt Inc. is seeking an experienced foreman to lead carpentry crews on-site, coordinating planning, layout, and execution in accordance with plans, specs, codes and standards.

You will manage resources, ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery, while promoting continuous improvement and effective crew performance through coaching and clear communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years’ experience in the relevant construction market.
  • Proven leadership, safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with other foremen and crews.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and assure high quality work.
  • Attend and participate in safety, quality, production, and planning meetings.
  • Ensure crew members performance evaluations are conducted.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement culture within the crew.
  • Ensure accuracy of time sheets, quantities, and productivity reports.
  • Develop weekly work plans and provide feedback on the 6-week schedule.
  • Set weekly production goals and execute work on time and within budget.
  • Adhere to company policies and Sundt Way in supervision.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for crew members.

Job description

Basic Job Functions

Provide leadership, management, and supervision necessary for the planning, lay-out, and performing all types of Carpentry work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of all craft persons under his/her supervision and provide all resources needed for the work to be done safely, correctly, and efficiently.Work with other foreman or crews to ensure that the work is coordinated and sequenced to assure that the flow of work and the schedule is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain positive working relationships with other foreman and crews.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and assure that high quality work is always being performed.
  3. Conduct and/or participate in all safety, quality, production, and planning meetings.
  4. Assure all crew members evaluations/performance agreements are conducted.
  5. Champion and promote a Continuous Improvement culture with all members of the crew.
  6. Assure the accuracy of all time sheets, quantity, and productivity reports.
  7. Develop one-week and daily work plans, provide feedback on the 6-week schedule, and know the critical path.
  8. Establish weekly production goals for the crew and execute the work on time & under budget.
  9. Adhere to and support all company policies, procedures and “The Sundt Way” regarding the work and people you supervise.
  10. Provide appropriate coaching and mentoring for crew members to help them be the best they can be.
Minimum Job Requirements
  1. Must have a minimum of four years’ experience in the relevant construction market and an in-depth understanding of the trades being supervised.
  2. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for the members of his/her crew.
  3. Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  1. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  2. Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  3. Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
  4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  9. Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  10. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
