Job summary

Sundt Inc. is seeking a skilled structural steel foreman to lead and supervise steel erection and fabrication activities in Arizona.

You will coordinate foremen and crews, manage resources, and ensure safe, high-quality work aligned with plans and standards. The role requires a minimum of five years in the construction market (level I) and six+ years (level II), with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years (level I) and six plus years (level II) experience in the relevant construction market and an in-depth understanding of the trade you are supervising.
  • Set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for the members of his/her crew.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Adhere to and support all company policies, procedures and “The Sundt Way” with regard to the work and people you supervise.
  • Provides appropriate coaching and mentoring for crew members to help them be the best they can be.

Job description

Basic Job Functions

Provide leadership, management, and supervision necessary for the planning, lay-out, and performance of all types of structural steel erection and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of all foremen or crews under his/her supervision and provide all resources needed for the work to be done safely, correctly, and efficiently. Work with other foremen or superintendents to ensure that the work is coordinated and sequenced to assure that the flow of work and the schedule is maintained.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Maintain positive working relationships with client and superintendent.

  2. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and assure that high quality work is being performed at all times.

  3. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements


  1. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

  2. Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.

  3. Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis

  4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis

  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures

  6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis

  7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis

  8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to: steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)

  9. Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.

  10. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
