Job summary

Pave America is hiring a skilled Paving Equipment Operator to operate machinery used in the construction and maintenance of asphalt roads, parking lots, and other paved surfaces. This role requires safe and efficient operation of paving equipment such as asphalt pavers, rollers, skid steers, and milling machines, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience operating paving or heavy equipment, a solid understanding of maintenance and safety

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating paving or heavy equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Driver's license is a plus but not required.
• Willing to travel overnight when projects are outside local area.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including Backhoes, Pavers, Skid steers and Rollers per project needs.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks; report issues promptly.
• Load, unload and position equipment safely on job sites.
• Work with paving crew to ensure even asphalt distribution and proper compaction.
• Follow grade markers and layout specs to achieve desired slope and thickness.
• Maintain control of speed, feed and depth of material application.
• Assist with handwork or labor when equipment is idle.
• Comply with safety regulations and company policies.
• Communicate clearly with crew and foreman during operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities -

• Safely operate various types of heavy equipment including Backhoes, Pavers, Skid steers and Rollers depending on the project needs
• Perform daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and report issues promptly
• Load, unload, and position equipment safely on job sites
• Work with the paving crew to ensure even asphalt distribution, proper compaction, and smooth finish
• Follow grade markers and layout specifications to achieve desired slope and thickness
• Maintain control of speed, feed, and depth of material application
• Assist with handwork or labor duties when equipment is not in use
• Comply with all safety regulations, traffic control procedures, and company policies
• Communicate clearly with crew members and foreman during paving operations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements -

• 2+ years of experience operating paving or heavy equipment preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment
• Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills
• Must be reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Driver's license is a plus but not required
• Ability to pass a drug test and adhere to safety standards
• Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
• Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
