Job summary

APAC Central Inc., a CRH Company, seeks a Skilled Laborer to support asphalt and concrete crews on construction and paving projects. The role requires versatility, with duties ranging from shoveling to operating small tools, all within a safety-first team environment.

You may be assigned to various tasks across sites, travel to project locations, and work night or weekend shifts as schedules require. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and prior construction experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Understanding of construction and paving materials, methods, and tools.
• Basic literacy and numerical skills; able to read, write, and perform basic calculations.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in safe use of construction equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by following safety policies and using appropriate tools.
• Follow OSHA/MSHA safety standards and report concerns to supervisors.
• Support crew through shoveling, raking, transporting materials, and assisting with truck operations.
• Coordinate with equipment operators using signals and proper communication.
• Carry out assignments as directed by the Foreman to meet project requirements.
• Operate small power tools such as jackhammers when needed.
• Excavate, distribute, and level construction materials per project needs.
• Lift, carry, and secure materials and tools throughout the day.
• Assist in setup, relocation, and removal of traffic control devices.
