Job summary

VDOT is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the Pavement Management Program. You will assist in data collection, maintenance of history in pavement databases, and preparation of sections for evaluation.

You will work with staff and contractors, review field work, provide technical assistance, and help develop annual resurfacing schedules. Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to interpret plans are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply statistical concepts in analyzing data.
• Ability to prepare oral and written technical reports.
• Ability to read, interpret pavement plans, specifications and contracts.
• Knowledge of engineering aspects of highway materials usage.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with VDOT staff and external staff to resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate construction and maintenance history in pavement management databases.
• Apply engineering technology principles to assigned program areas.
• Review field work for compliance with policies, procedures and standards.
• Prepare and submit required forms for non-destructive pavement distress testing.
• Assist with development of annual pavement resurfacing schedules.
