Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation Houston District Laboratory is seeking Pavement Engineers to support data collection and analysis for design, rehabilitation and forensic investigations. The roles include operating automated pavement measurement tools, coordinating statewide data activities and evaluating bids.

Spec I/II require high school graduation with extensive engineering experience; licensure and Pavement Distress Rater certification are required within set timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 6 years engineering/related experience. Substitutions via year-for-year experience allowed.
• Spec II requires 7 years engineering/related experience and may substitute education with relevant training.
• Must obtain Pavement Distress Rater certification within 1 year of hire if performing pavement evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in data processing and compilation.
• Coordinates statewide or district-wide data measurement and collection activities.
• Evaluates construction bids and makes recommendations.
• Operates or oversees automated pavement measurement equipment.
• Performs data analysis to evaluate equipment.
• Processes collected data for analysis.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.
