Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Library seeks a Supervisor in Charge to oversee daily operations at the Main Library and guide a large team of part-time staff. You will supervise Patron Services, hire and train employees, and coordinate with other managers to ensure excellent public access and efficient materials handling.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, implementing GRPL policies, and supporting the library's mission through leadership on committees and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Experience supervising a large part-time staff and coordinating patron services.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for diverse patrons.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the main library and supervise Patron Services staff.
• Hire, train, evaluate, schedule, and direct day-to-day work of staff.
• Collaborate with managers to ensure consistent public service and materials handling.
• Prepare reports and participate in committees supporting GRPL goals.
