Job summary

The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC seeks dynamic part-time House Managers to oversee the Patron Experience during performances. This onsite role includes supervising Front of House staff, coordinating with the Manager on Duty, and delivering excellent customer service to theatre guests.

The House Manager will handle questions, assist with seating, manage walkie-talkies and equipment, and participate in studio-wide anti-racism work. Nights and weekends required; 0–20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience in events or front-of-house operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing show schedules and crowd dynamics.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and varied show/event hours.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems; Tessitura is a plus.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in theatre operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patrons; answer questions and resolve issues during performances.
• Coordinate with MOD and staff to ensure proper line and service coverage for all performances.
• Maintain lobby and public area appearance; manage store inventory and reconciliation.
• Operate and monitor ticket scanners and assistive devices; communicate with Stage Manager.
• Support Box Office with patron needs and ticketing issues; participate in emergency procedures.
• Participate in anti-racism work and ongoing DEI initiatives.
• Assist with event rentals as needed, including setup and guest directions.
