Job summary

Skokie Public Library seeks an enthusiastic manager to co-design advisory and information services strategy and to lead the Patron Engagement team in delivering top-notch services to the Skokie community. The role partners with the Director of Public Services to align staff, spaces, and programs with the library's mission.

The ideal candidate will have MLS from an ALA-accredited program, at least three years of supervisory experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate

Qualifications

• Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Minimum three years supervisory experience.
• Experience providing advisory/information library service to the public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and lead direct reports.
• Multilingual in English plus another relevant language.
• Public speaking skills and comfort with social media.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership through participation on library's management team and supervision of Patron Engagement departmental staff.
• Hire, train, coach, and review performance of staff.
• Ensure a departmental climate that offers patrons efficient, accurate, and courteous service.
• Collaborate with the Patron Engagement Supervisor to provide leadership to the advisory and information services workgroups.
• Oversee and evaluate service models and operations for advisory and information services.
• Apply and integrate principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in workflows.
• Liaise with Learning Experiences Manager to plan and evaluate programs for adults in areas such as books and digital literacy.
• Support public service projects and initiatives.
