Job summary

Skokie Public Library seeks a Patron Engagement Manager to co-design advisory and information services strategy and lead the Patron Engagement team in serving a diverse community. You will work with the Director of Public Services to align services, programs, and spaces with the library’s mission.

The role emphasizes leadership, equity, and excellent customer service, including multilingual outreach and public speaking across platforms. A collaborative, compassionate environment awaits.

Qualifications

• MLS from an ALA-accredited library program or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience delivering advisory and information services to the public.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and lead staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on the library's management team and supervise the Patron Engagement staff.
• Hire, train, coach, and review staff performance.
• Ensure efficient, accurate, and courteous service for library patrons.
• Collaborate to guide advisory and information services workgroups and align with library priorities.
• Oversee service models and implement innovations in advisory and information services.
• Apply DEI and accessibility principles in workflows and services.
• Coordinate with Learning Experiences Manager to set program priorities for adults.
• Support public service projects and initiatives.
