Job summary

Boyne Resorts in Snoqualmie, WA is hiring a Patrol Training Specialist to deliver and support patrol training under the Patrol Training Manager. The role emphasizes professional instruction, safety, and adapting training to weather and terrain.

You will develop lesson plans, run academy and refresher trainings, and coach patrollers and instructors across seasons, contributing to a high standard of patrol readiness and service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current National EMT-Basic or Outdoor Emergency Care certification and CPR.
  • Expert skier or snowboarder with terrain ability.
  • Valid driver's license to operate resort vehicles.
  • Experience instructing, coaching, or mentoring Patrol staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Patrol Training Manager in carrying out the annual training calendar and department-wide training system across winter, summer, preseason, and postseason operations as scheduled.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of lesson plans, training stations, scenarios, drills, practical exercises, and instructional materials.
  • Deliver assigned new-hire academy, annual refresher, returner training, make-up training, skills verification, and other Patrol readiness programs.
  • Deliver rescue, lift evacuation, toboggan, operational skills, and other field-based training as assigned.
  • Maintain a professional, consistent, and service-oriented approach to instruction, coaching, and employee support.
  • Adapt training delivery and logistics to changing weather, terrain, staffing, and operational conditions while maintaining approved standards.
  • Provide field-level instruction, coaching, evaluation, and skills development for patrollers, supervisors, and trainees.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and support to instructors, evaluators, and field trainers as assigned by the Patrol Training Manager.
  • Support EMS, Snow Safety, Operations, and other program training in coordination with the responsible program owners.
  • Support training conducted jointly with or provided by Patrol to other resort departments.

Overview

The Patrol Training Specialist delivers and supports Patrol training under the direction of the Patrol Training Manager.

Come work and play at Seattle’s home mountain, The Summit at Snoqualmie. Located an hour from Seattle, at the junction where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses Interstate 90. With summer activities ramping up with spectacular Mountain Biking trails and Scenic Lift Rides, there is lots to do all year long.

Responsibilities

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Long Term Thinking
  • Support the Patrol Training Manager in carrying out the annual training calendar and department-wide training system across winter, summer, preseason, and postseason operations as scheduled.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of lesson plans, training stations, scenarios, drills, practical exercises, and instructional materials.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three seasons of ski patrol experience.
  • Current National EMT-Basic or Outdoor Emergency Care certification and current provider-level CPR certification.
  • Expert skier or snowboarder with the ability to operate confidently in assigned terrain and conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate resort vehicles as assigned.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing, coaching, evaluating, or mentoring Patrol staff.
Preferred
  • Prior Patrol instructor, field trainer, Patrol Supervisor, or equivalent training-role experience.
  • Experience supporting new-hire academy, annual refresher, lift evacuation training, rescue training, or skills verification.
  • Experience with training records, learning management systems, CBT tracking, or compliance documentation.
  • Avalanche, rescue, lift evacuation, medical, or technical-rescue instruction experience.
  • Mountain bike patrol, summer operations, or year-round mountain-operations experience.

Wage and Benefit Info

  • The wage range for this positions is: from $32.00 to $36.00/hr depending on Experience
  • This is a non-benefited role.
  • All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff).
  • All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
