Job summary

Vail Resorts is seeking Ski Patrol for the Winter Season 2026/2027 in California. The role focuses on maintaining a safe mountain environment, providing exceptional guest service, and responding to medical emergencies on the slopes.

The team works closely with guests and staff to uphold safety protocols and deliver top-tier service. The position requires external certifications (OEC/EMT/WFR), fluent English, and excellent skiing ability across all terrains and weather.

Qualifications

  • Must hold current OEC/EMT/WFR certifications.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
  • Excellent fitness and ability to ski/ride in all conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist injured guests on the mountain and provide first aid.
  • Transport injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan.
  • Conduct end-of-day sweeps to ensure all guests have left the mountain.
  • Maintain trails and identify hazards to prevent incidents.
  • Set up and transport mountain safety equipment as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing on-the-job training programs.

Job Summary

Ski Patrol's primary responsibility is to provide and promote a safe environment for our guests and employees as well as to provide exceptional guest service. Ski Patrol is responsible for executing essential guest service functions such as responding to medical emergencies on the mountain, transporting injured guests off the mountain to the appropriate facility, and general hill safety. Ski patrol is also responsible for enforcing safe skiing and riding practices and enforcement of the Skier's and Rider's Responsibility Code. Special circumstances include chairlift and gondola evacuation. Other duties can be assigned as needed. Ski patrol is a highly visible role on the mountain with a great deal of guest interaction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid
  • Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan
  • Performing sweeps at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are safely off the mountain
  • Maintaining trails, identifying and mitigating hazards
  • Transporting and setting up mountain safety equipment
  • Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need on skis
  • Participation in continued on the job training program

The expected pay range is $21.51/hr - $25.30?hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
