Job summary

Gettysburg College is seeking a full-time Patrol Sergeant to lead Campus Safety operations as a shift supervisor. The Sergeant oversees field officers, coordinating patrols alongside the Lieutenant who handles broader administrative duties.

The role includes supporting employee development, conducting performance reviews, counseling, and coaching, and ensuring officers are trained in essential safety tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3-5 years’ experience as a safety officer or related role; campus setting preferred.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to obtain certifications in AED, first responder, Taser/ECD, baton, OC spray, handcuffing, first aid, and CPR before end of probation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a shift of Campus Safety personnel and provide direct oversight on patrol operations.
• Plan, staff, organize, and direct daily shift activities.
• Support employee development through performance appraisals, counseling, and training.
• Build positive relationships with the college community and uphold Procedural Justice principles.
