Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; AA degree or 90 credits preferred.
• Citizen, permanent resident, or DACA status per RCW 41.14.100.
• Minimum ages: 20 (lateral) or 21 (lateral entry); pass tests.
• Completion of state basic law enforcement academy; Equivalency Academy within 1 year if not certified.
• Background checks, polygraph, medical and psychological exams; armed on duty.

Responsibilities

• Patrol unincorporated Snohomish County; conduct crime scene investigations; enforce laws; render public assistance.
• Respond to scenes; secure scenes; interview victims and witnesses; gather and preserve evidence; arrest suspects; prepare reports.
• Investigate accidents; administer emergency first aid until aid arrives.
• Issue notices and citations; serve warrants; transport prisoners; document records.
• Testify in court; collaborate with agencies and public; maintain professional conduct.
• May work in specialty units; supervise volunteers; may perform sergeant duties.
