Job summary

Thurston County Sheriff's Office is offering a lateral incentive for experienced deputies, including a starting annual base salary of up to $108,348, and immediate vacation and sick leave upon hire. Lateral deputies may pursue specialty assignments after 4 weeks of field training and within current agency CBAs.

The role includes patrol, investigations, and enforcement duties across the county. Applicants must meet minimum requirements, including a valid WA LE academy certificate, a clean record,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• U.S. Citizenship or eligible status required.
• WA State LE Academy certificate or equivalent required.
• Must obtain equivalency within 12 months of employment.
• Minimum 12 months of continuous peace officer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrols designated county areas to deter crime and aid the public.
• Conducts on-scene investigations and collects evidence.
• Arrests suspects, serves warrants, and completes required reports.
• Responds to accidents and medical emergencies, administers aid.
• Transfers prisoners and maintains jail security as assigned.
• Testifies in court and participates in ongoing investigations.

WA State law enforcement academy certification

Ability to obtain equivalency certification within 12 months
