Job summary

Snohomish County is seeking qualified Deputy Sheriff lateral entrants to support the Sheriff’s Office’ law enforcement mission. Lateral candidates may be hired at Step 3 or Step 4 of the pay range based on prior service, with wages reflecting the Deputy Sheriff Association collective bargaining agreement.

The role entails protecting life and property, enforcing laws, investigating crimes, and performing assignments across the county.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; an AA degree or 90 credits preferred.
• Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient per RCW 41.14.100.
• Must be twenty years old at time of application, with no maximum age.
• Must pass job related tests.

Responsibilities

• Patrol unincorporated Snohomish County to deter and discover crimes; conduct crime scene investigations; enforce laws and ordinances; render public assistance as needed.
• Respond to reported crime scenes; secure scenes; interview victims and witnesses; gather and preserve evidence; arrest suspects; prepare required reports.
• Investigate and report accidents; administer emergency first aid until aid car arrives; issue notices of infraction and citations; serve warrants of arrest.
• Interview and investigate citizen complaints; respond to inquiries; provide information to the public on laws and ordinances; assist in resolving problems.
