Job summary

Wheeling Hospital is seeking a patient transport professional to move patients to and from the Diagnostic Services Department. You will use RIS to check patients in and out, and handle equipment like IVAC pumps, drainage devices, and oxygen tanks.

This role requires attention to safety and comfort for patients across all ages. The position involves assisting with stretchers, wheelchairs, PPE, and transfer devices, ensuring a reliable patient flow in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a patient care aide training program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate records of patient transport to and from the Diagnostics Services Department.
  • Utilizes RIS to properly check-in and check-out patients.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of IVAC pumps, drainage devices, catheters, restraints and oxygen tanks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with stretchers/carts, wheelchairs, O2 tanks, transfer devices and personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and provide a safe environment for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity must be within normal ranges.
  • Must be able to position, lift, move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance in a fair manner on a regular and recurring basis.
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shift.
