Job summary

UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham, AL seeks a patient transport associate to support radiology services in a busy hospital. You will move patients, equipment, and specimens, ensuring safe transfer and timely access to imaging procedures.

The role requires assisting patients to vehicles, delivering supplies, and providing directions to visitors while upholding safety and patient‑centered care. Certification and high school equivalency are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire date required (AHA or Red Cross accepted).

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, specimens and equipment throughout the facility.
• Transport patients to designated sites via wheelchair, stretcher or bed, including patients with oxygen tanks or monitors.
• Assist patients entering and exiting vehicles and transfers from wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff; may assist with removal of deceased bodies to morgue.
• Greet and provide information and directions to patients and visitors.

Position Overview

Department : Radiology

Schedule: Alternating weekends 3pm - 11pm and availability for two or three weekdays Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 2pm -8pm

Work Location : UAB St Vincent's East

Our radiology team includes certified specialists and provides advanced imaging services across fast-paced inpatient and outpatient environments. We offer flexible scheduling and professional growth through cross-training, and work collaboratively to support diagnostics and critical interventions, contributing directly to exceptional patient care and positive outcomes.

What You Will Do

Transport patients, specimens and equipment throughout the facility.

Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.

Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.

Deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. May assist staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.

Greet and provide information and direction to patients and visitors.

What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• - BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• - High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience,if applicable.
