Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Patient Transporter at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix to move patients and equipment, assist nurses, and maintain safety. The role requires alertness to patient condition and prompt communication with staff in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Shifts include Day 7am-3:30pm and Mid Day 2pm-10:30pm, five 8-hour days with rotating weekends and holiday rotations. BLS certification and Arizona fingerprint clearance are required, with potential driver’s license

Qualifications

• Certification for BLS is required.
• Requires interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment.
• Ability to interpret verbal and written information/instructions and effectively communicate with others.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of computer skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and ability to function with minimal direction in a fast paced environment.
• If required by facility, may be required to possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire and maintain the card for duration of employment.
• Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely and efficiently between departments following transfer techniques and infection control procedures.
• Assists with patient handling and lifting using appropriate safety equipment.
• Provides distribution services of requested items between departments, possibly including medications.
• Responds to job calls; may use computer system to track requests and update status.
• Collects, cleans and disinfects patient care equipment and reusable items.
• May perform supply restocking or clerical duties as assigned.
• May operate a golf cart to provide distribution services.
