Job summary

Banner Health in Glendale, AZ seeks a Patient Transporter to move and transport patients and items throughout the facility, supporting nurses and clinical staff. The role requires loading/unloading patients with appropriate equipment and ensuring safety and infection control in a fast-paced hospital setting.

This full-time position offers weekend/holiday rotation with differential pay. Candidates should have BLS certification, strong communication, and the ability to work well under pressure

Qualifications

• Certification for BLS is required.
• Interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment.
• Ability to interpret verbal and written information and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer skills and organizational and problem solving abilities.
• If required by facility, may require a valid driver’s license and eligibility for auto insurance coverage.
• Employees at Banner Health facilities must have an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at hire and maintain it.
• An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely between departments using transfer techniques and infection control.
• Assists with patient handling using safety equipment and procedures.
• Provides distribution services of requested items between departments, potentially including medications.
• Responds to job calls promptly and uses the computer system to track/update requests.
• Collects, cleans and disinfects patient care equipment and other reusable items.
• May restock supplies or perform related clerical duties as needed.
• May operate a golf cart to provide distribution services.
• May be required to transport deceased persons to the facility morgue.
• Delivers services with a strong focus on customer service to staff, physicians, patients, families and visitors.
