Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support certification by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Assists care team as directed, taking care of walking patients and passing nourishment trays.
• Cares for patients and families with courtesy, punctuality, and adherence to schedules.
• Communicates information per hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintains clean/dirty utility rooms and equipment rooms on patient care units.
• Performs basic activities to meet daily patient needs and comfort.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Reports activity outside established parameters to the Nurse Manager or Professional Registered Nurse.
• Transports deceased patients following protocols to the morgue.
• Transports equipment and supplies to treatment areas and patient care areas.
• Transports laboratory specimens to the specified lab.
• Transports patients in taxis, ambulances, or cars; uses lift equipment and wheelchairs; moves patients between areas.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
