Qualifications

• Minimum six (6) months acute hospital experience preferred.
• A current CPR card (AHA) is required or must be completed by the end of orientation.
• Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients throughout the hospital facility via wheelchair or gurney at a comfortable speed, following proper transport protocols and safety measures.
• Verify patient identity prior to transport, assess patient readiness with nursing staff, and ensure appropriate equipment/apparatus are securely attached.
• Maintain clear, compassionate, and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members; provide accurate hand-off reports to ongoing shift personnel.
• Strictly adhere to universal precautions, isolation techniques, HIPAA regulations, and safety guidelines when handling hazardous substances or operating equipment.
• Assist nursing units with delegated tasks, complete supervisor assignments in a timely manner, and assist with training or orienting new staff members.
• Respect patient privacy, dignity, and age‑specific developmental and cultural needs during all aspects of care and transportation.
