Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients safely and promptly throughout University Hospital. You will help ensure comfortable, courteous service and act as an ambassador of care for patients and families while supporting clinical staff.

The role covers transports to and from treatment areas, log-keeping, equipment handling, bed-to-stretcher transfers, and daily oxygen tank refills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from treatment areas within the hospital.
• Records accurate patient information on log sheets.
• Secures equipment for patient movement and ensures it is clean and in good working order.
• Assists staff with transferring patients from beds to stretchers, wheelchairs, or other approved conveyances.
• Fills liquid oxygen tanks at the start of the workday and uses as required.
• Acts in a courteous and caring manner toward patients, guests, visitors, families, staff, and students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
