Job summary

AHMC Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Hospital Transporter to move patients between the nursing unit and ancillary departments, pick up orders and medications, and relay test results to the care teams.

The role requires adherence to safety and HIPAA policies, attention to patient dignity, and effective communication with staff and families. responsibilities include assisting with patient readiness, obtaining additional transportation help when needed, and cross-training for transporter and runner

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Minimum six (6) months acute hospital experience preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required or must be completed by the end of orientation.
• Proficient in oral and written communication

Responsibilities

• Identifies and reports behavioral and physical changes to appropriate person.
• Assists in determining readiness of patient prior to leaving nursing unit.
• Obtains additional assistance for transportation of patient when indicated.
• Organizes work in order to complete assigned tasks.
• Prioritizes work in order to meet patient needs and minimize delays in procedures.
• Takes initiative to find additional work on slow days and assists with other tasks as needed.
• Transports patients at a safe and appropriate speed and ensures patient comfort and safety.
• Maintains communication with patients, families, and team members while transporting.
• Observes isolation techniques and universal precautions per policy.
• Follows proper hand-off communication procedures and documents activities as required.
