Job Summary:

A Patient Transporter transports patients and patient-associated items as requested throughout hospital stay or to departure lounge and to vehicle for discharge to ensure customer service and throughput needs are met.

Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Description:

• Transport patients using EMR/tracking software system; safely and courteously transport patients to various areas as requested, using proper equipment, verifying patient name, date of birth, room number, and destination, and documenting such. Notify responsible parties upon arrival and report any medical problems, keeping all patient information confidential. Ensure safety, courteous, and confidential transport of each patient to the correct destination. Practice good hand hygiene.
• Maintain and disinfect departmental equipment, such as stretchers, wheelchairs, beds, equipment rooms, and chairs in lounge areas.
• Follow safety procedures to ensure safety for themselves and patients, complying with healthcare system, state, and federal safety standards. This includes performing proper safety procedures and precautions, reporting safety concerns and incidents, using correct lifting techniques, and disposing of sharps and infectious waste properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective and efficient operation of the department.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent education as required by the country where obtained.

Specialized Knowledge:

• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to set priorities
• Ability to accept and adapt to change
