Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Transport Supervisor to coordinate daily department activities, supervise transporters, and assist with employee training and performance assessments. This role ensures efficient movement of patients and equipment and supports complaint resolution.

You will oversee evaluations, maintain equipment like wheelchairs and stretchers, report issues to the Shift Supervisor, and participate in monthly in-services.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient related transporting experience.
• Knowledge of safety, universal precaution, fire, evacuation, emergency care policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete Transport duties.
• Ability to handle multiple demands in high stress and emergency situations.
• Ability to communicate professionally with various user groups.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with evaluations and training of all personnel in area of responsibility.
• Perform all duties of Transport position as outlined in job title Transporter.
• Report any and all problems and suggestions to the Shift Supervisor.
• Coordinate the monthly in-services for the department with the Manager.
• Maintain control, location, and inspection of wheelchairs and/or stretchers.
• Assist Supervisors with monthly system wide competencies on existing staff.
• Develop an open working relationship with unit personnel and Supervisors.
• Ensure that the daily work of all team members is completed and ensure that they go to their assigned locations.
• In the absence of the Shift Supervisor temporarily act in a supervisory capacity; assume the responsibilities of this individual.
• Maintain a courteous professional demeanor and communicate appropriately with patients, visitors, hospital personnel and fellow employees at all times.
