Responsibilities

  • Ensures patient safety and comfort.
  • Transfers patients from non-ambulatory to ambulatory status and to stretcher, bed, unit, surgery or other departments for testing.
  • Proficient in telephone skills with ability to access tele-tracking lines hospital-wide and prioritize transfers with dispatch.
  • Assist Life Star personnel with patient transfers and provide escorted arrival to appropriate area.
  • Ensure oxygen tanks and equipment are transferred with patients and report issues before transport.
  • Clean equipment after use and document faulty equipment for repair.
  • Maintain CPR certifications.
  • Perform one-man transports for cardiac catheterization and special procedure patients and monitor patients while notifying nurses of excessive bleeding.
  • Operate all equipment per manufacturer specifications.
  • Able to transfer patients with portable telemetry.
  • Serve as dispatcher when needed to maintain workflow.
  • Demonstrate time-consciousness to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Complete all tasks with good judgment in seeking assistance when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality when discussing patient matters and follow safety procedures.
  • Adhere to safety procedures in handling hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and self-development as outlined in performance reviews.
