Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking a Transport Associate to support patient transport across hospital departments. The role emphasizes safe, timely moves, equipment handling, and collaboration with nursing and care teams in a busy healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, timely transport of patients to destinations and bring required equipment.
• Assist patient care staff with transfers and maintain proper body mechanics.
• Notify nursing staff on arrival and verify patient identification.
• Complete transports efficiently and communicate delays or concerns to staff.
• Disinfect transport equipment before and after use and manage linen and waste per policy.
• Check equipment safety and report any issues to leadership.
• Coordinate with dispatch and department leaders to optimize workflow and patient flow.
