Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a Transfer Center Associate to streamline patient transfers between hospitals, coordinating with RNs, physicians, and EMS teams. You will manage transfer requests, arrange transportation, and ensure all patient details are accurately recorded in the EMR.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is required.
Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
Understanding of EMTALA law and CMS guidelines.
Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Proficiency in electronic medical records and payer authorization processes.
Strong computer keyboarding and office equipment skills.

Responsibilities

Build trusting relationships with referring parties and provide empathetic customer service.
Coordinate and facilitate hospital transfers in accordance with EMTALA and policy.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, Administrative Supervisors, and Patient Access teams to secure clinical information and initiate patient registration.
Ensure accurate documentation of transfer requests and payer authorizations in the EMR.
Coordinate transportation logistics (ground/air) and keep stakeholders informed of updates.
