Job summary

Midwest Eye Consultants is seeking a Traveling Patient Support Specialist to support our optometry practices across Marion and Fort Wayne regions. You will rotate among offices, performing administrative and clinical tasks to back up technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives.

This is a dynamic, travel-based position with a focus on patient care and team collaboration. The role offers starting wages of $17.00–$18.00 per hour, mileage reimbursement, 6.5 paid holidays plus 2

Qualifications

• High school graduate, or equivalent.
• Previous experience in medical office and/or direct patient care is preferred.
• Previous experience in optometry environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist at various offices within region, performing administrative and clinical tasks to support technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives.
• Provide first-line friendly patient interaction and assist with checkout, payments, and scheduling.
• Learn and operate across three practice areas (technician, optician, and patient services) to support patient care.

Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Patient Support Specialists assist at various offices within their region, performing administrative and clinical functions in support of technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives within our optometry practices. If you love variety in your work day, this may be the perfect spot for you!

Our technicians support physicians by completing preliminary testing with patients and facilitating the beginning of the appointment. Opticians counsel patients through the process of selecting the best frames and lenses for their medical needs and personal style. Patient services representatives provide clerical support for the practice. They are the first impression, welcoming patients and preparing them for their appointment, and typically the last stop in a patient visit, checking patients out, taking payments, and assisting with follow-up appointment scheduling.

WORK LOCATION:

This is a traveling position. This person will support our optometry practices in Marion and Fort Wayne Region.

WHAT WE OFFER:

• Starting wage of $17.00 - $18.00 based on knowledge, skills, and experience
• Mileage reimbursement issued bi-weekly
• 6.5 paid holidays per year + 2 Floating Holidays

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate, or equivalent
• Previous experience in medical office and/or direct patient care is preferred
• Previous experience in optometry environment is preferred
