Job summary

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a Patient Services Representative I for UT Health RGV Internal Medicine in Weslaco, TX. You will greet patients, register them with accurate demographics, schedule visits, verify insurance, and collect copays in a patient-friendly, HIPAA-compliant environment.

Ideal candidates will have at least 6 months of medical front-office experience or 2 years of general customer service, with preferred certificates in Medical Office Specialization.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of medical front-office, and/or receptionist experience in patient registration, scheduling, customer service, and/or insurance verification and eligibility.
• Preferred: completion of Medical Office Specialist certificate program or Medical Administrative Assistant or closely related.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients in a caring, warm manner.
• Handle in-coming patient telephone calls and schedule appointments.
• Collect and verify accurate insurance information and time-of-service payments.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Obtain prior authorizations, referrals, and other insurance documentation as required.
• Use EMR and billing workflows to check-in and check-out patients and reconcile charts.
