Job summary

Advocate Health, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, is seeking a Patient Services Representative to manage patient registration, verify insurance, and collect liabilities. The role requires fast, courteous handling of demographics, insurance details, and pre-authorization when needed.

You will advise patients on financial obligations and refer complex cases to a Financial Counselor. The position is based in a normal office setting with 40 hours per week and potential travel to affiliated sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in patient access, scheduling, registration and financial clearance preferred.
• Familiarity with Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules and insurance pre-certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients arriving for appointments with courtesy.
• Complete registration and verify/update patient demographics and insurance.
• Verify benefits and collect patient liabilities as applicable.
• Follow financial clearance policies for non-urgent services when needed.
• Identify patients needing financial assistance and refer to Financial Counselor.
• Complete visit closure and schedule follow-ups.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization rules.
• Communicate issues to management to improve service and productivity.
