Job summary

Avera Health in Aberdeen, SD, is seeking a PRN Medical Receptionist for the Cardiology Clinic, floating across clinic areas to support sick calls, leaves and PTO requests. Responsibilities include patient check-in, registration, insurance verification and scanning to the patient record.

Typical hours are Monday–Thursday 8am–5pm and Friday 8am–noon. You will coordinate with nurses and physicians to expedite care in a compassionate, team-based environment at Avera St Luke's Hospital.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients, checking them in and completing registration which includes verifying demographics, insurance and collection of any service payments.
• Responsible for insurance verifications, authorizations and getting consent and waiver forms signed as appropriate.
• Responsible for scanning all pertinent information into the patient's record.
• Answers and addresses calls, messages and/or faxes, routing them to appropriate individuals/departments if needed.
• Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters.
• Expedites delivery of care by coordinating nurse, physician, and patient time. Acts as public relations agent for the physicians by serving the patients in a friendly, efficient manner. Directs patients to ancillary services as needed.

Position Highlights

This position will be located in our Cardiology Clinic floating to help fill in for sick calls, short staffed situations, leaves of absence, and PTO requests. Hours are M-TH 8-5 and Fridays 8-Noon.

A Brief Overview

Works in the various reception areas throughout the Clinic and is responsible for helping the patients to access the Clinic's system for care.
