Patient Services Representative (PSR) – Physician Office - Primary Care Associates - Mechanicsville, VA
Job Summary:

The Patient Services Representative will serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community. Responsibilities include receiving and processing patient referrals, registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards and IDs, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently. Additional duties involve scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and maintaining medical records.

Essential Functions:
  1. Provide strong communication and excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
  2. Process admission paperwork and verify basic insurance information, ensuring accurate patient identification for billing systems.
  3. Answer internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  5. Maintain patient flow and inform supervisors of any department or patient issues immediately.
  6. Coordinate and prioritize bed placement needs for prompt and appropriate patient placement.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High School Degree or GED required.
Experience:
  • Prior experience in healthcare or related areas is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Cadence, and Connect Care is preferred but not required.
  • Healthcare/Medical Receptionist experience is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, 40 WPM typing, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Engage professionally with staff and patients.
  • Basic math skills.
