Responsibilities

• Greet patients and work with them in person, on the phone, or via electronic correspondence.
• Check patients in and update patient information in the system.
• Explain and assist with registration forms for patients and families.
• Maintain patient data up-to-date and verify accuracy.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain referrals for office visits.
• Respond to patient queries and concerns professionally.
• Stay updated with information regarding insurance programs.
• Provide the highest level of customer service in person and on the phone.

Basic ResponsibilityThe Patient Representative is responsible for greeting patients and working with them in person, on the phone or through electronic correspondence, checking patients in and updating patient information.Specific ResponsibilitiesThe specific responsibilities of the Patient Representative encompass but are not limited to the following:Explains and assists with the registration forms to patients and their familiesMaintains patient data up-to-date and verify patient informationCompletes verification of insurance benefits and obtain referrals for office visitsWorks under the guidance of Supervisor and follow departmental policies and proceduresResponds to patient queries and concerns in a professional mannerStays updated with information regarding insurance programsProvides the highest of customer service in person and on the phonePrioritizes tasks and patients needsSkills Required:Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work in an autonomous and independent mannerAbility to apply knowledge of office procedures and carry out tasks accordinglyMust be flexible, organized, and function well under pressureBi-lingual English/Spanish is a plusExcellent organizational and analytical skillsKnowledge of HIPAA requirementsMinimum education and work experience requirement:Minimum of a High School Diploma; 1 - 2 years of experience in customer service, or equivalent combination of education and experiencePrevious experience in a medical practice desiredReports to: Clinic ManagerSupervises: None
