Job description

Nemours Cardiology in Wilmington, DE is seeking a PSR II to join our team.

Responsible for organizing and operating the office systems related to appointment scheduling, patient intake including data verification, charge entry, and cash collection. Also responsible for statistical tracking, office communications, word processing, and filing of patient records.

Provide service excellence to each patient and family by performing and completing designated business processes associated with an outpatient visit. Ensure that the patient and family are prepared for their outpatient appointment in a timely fashion. Verify all demographic and financial information in advance of the patient visit, and monitor the waiting room and work environment to ensure patient safety and high service levels.

Participate in Nemours programs for continuous quality, performance, and service improvement. Collaborate with department management to enhance services through a team-based approach.

Essential Functions:
  1. Greet and communicate with each patient and family at the start of their outpatient visit using AIDET protocol.
  2. Complete tasks related to outpatient appointment processes before and during check-in, visit, and check-out, including but not limited to:
  • Prepare for scheduled patient visits at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Make confirmation calls to ensure visits are confirmed prior to the appointment.
  • Verify authorization and referrals for the day's visits; notify the Pre-Registration and Authorization Department of same-day scheduled visits; fax referrals within 24 hours if needed.
  • At check-in, confirm demographic information, patient identification, legal guardianship, referral information, and complete necessary documents while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. Scan insurance cards, collect co-pays, and provide price estimates. Achieve a registration accuracy of ≥95%.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as appropriate.
  • Manage MyNemours sign-ups and activations.
  • Communicate with clinical staff about patient waiting times and status updates, especially for delays over ten minutes, using AIDET principles.
  • Reconcile payments at shift end, and complete End of Day reports including DCRF and LDCRS.
  • Complete daily work queues and maintain system proficiency for scheduling, cancellations, order entry, referrals, and insurance verifications.
  • Maintain inventory of clerical supplies and ensure a clean, safe, and organized work and waiting environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, including scheduling and covering phones, managing recalls, and handling cancellations.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team by routing correspondence, lab and imaging results, and other patient communications.
  • Position Qualifications:
    • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience.
