RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Patient Services Representative for the Barnabas Health Medical Group's GYN Oncology team. You will greet patients, check them in and out, schedule visits, review information, and perform light clerical tasks to keep the practice running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in medical front desk, or general office, and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and perform check-in and check-out with professionalism and compassion.
• Prepare for visits by reviewing schedules and ensuring information is available.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
• Answer routine questions in person and by phone while providing exceptional service.
• Perform clerical tasks including copying, scanning, faxing, sorting, and mail distribution.
• Create and organize patient health records to maintain accuracy and privacy.
• Coordinate with insurance providers and handle pre-authorizations as needed.
• Protect patient privacy and contribute to a safe, welcoming practice environment.

As a Patient Service Representative (PSR), a typical day might include the following:

• Welcoming patients and performing patient check-in and check-out functions with professionalism and compassion.
• Preparing for patient visits by reviewing schedules and ensuring all necessary information is available.
• Scheduling patient appointments and coordinating follow-up visits as needed.
• Answering routine questions in person and over the telephone while providing exceptional customer service.
• Performing clerical responsibilities including copying, scanning, faxing, sorting, and distributing mail.
• Creating, maintaining, filing, and organizing patient health record information.
• Coordinating with insurance providers and handling pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary.
• Protecting patient privacy and contributing to a safe, efficient, and welcoming practice environment.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and relevant experience and/or training. Candidates must demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, previous medical receptionist or general office experience, and knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.Please advise the schedule for this role is Monday, 8:30am-5pm, Tuesday, 8:30am-3:30pm, Wednesday & Thursday, 8am-6:00pm, Friday, 8:30am-3pm, with hours subject to change based on practice’s needs.
