Job summary

UP Health System - Portage, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support patient referrals, scheduling, and check-in/check-out processes. This role contributes to accurate pre-certifications, payments collection, and timely communication with patients and providers.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of Medical Office experience, with BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• Preferred: 2 years Medical Office experience; referrals experience preferred.
• Requires ability to work in a stressful environment; critical thinking; ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the patient referral process and obtains appropriate pre-certifications as requested by the provider(s).
• Responsible for greeting patients; check-in, check-out, scheduling and managing telephones and messages.
• Collects and posts co-pays, deductibles and past due patient balances at the time of service.
